  • Why are there so few answered questions here?
We're still building the website! What questions would you like answered? Head to the 'Contact' page and let us know!
  • How much does a song cost?
Song costs and delivery time depends on the complexity of the song you'd like. A simple song with a vocalist and a guitar, for example, starts from $50 USD. Want another instrument? Or a rarer instrument (lute, bagpipes, oud, etc.)? It'll cost another $5-50. Click here for more info on our services. Or contact us here and we'll give you a quote and some options to fit any budget.
  • What kind/genres of music can you make?
What kinds can you think of? We can do those ones. The price goes up based on the complexity of the commission though. Do you want 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or 'Wonderwall'? So far we've made: - Folk - Pirate Rock - Celtic Punk - Fantasy Ballads - Big-band crooner jazz - Polka - Sea shanties - 13th Century Jewish Liturgical Prayer (...it's a long story) We can also do: - Pop - Hip-hop/rap - Showtunes - Spoken word - Heavy metal - Choir music - etc. - Try come up with a genre we can't do, I dare you!
  • How does Bards for Hire actually work?
We're an international network of professional musicians and artists. When we receive a commission we get in touch with the musician in our midst who best does that kind of music. Then we source instrumentalists, lock in a vocalist (or two). Then, ta-dah! We put it together.
  • What does mixing/mastering mean?
Mixing is the stage after recording where you blend individual tracks together, while mastering is the the final stage of audio production where you polish the entire mix to prepare for distribution. It's what actually makes music sound good!
  • What's your revision policy?
If you receive your song and want to make some changes, we're happy to work with you as long as it takes for you to be satisfied. Any easy changes,or mistakes we've made are free. HOWEVER, if the change you request requires significant additional studio time, we will have to charge you for that time (at cost).
  • Can you give refunds?
Only the money we haven't spent yet! If halfway though a song's production you decide you'd rather not have the completed work, then we can only return the money that hasn't already gone to pay musicians, studio hire, etc. We will always do our best to complete any job to the best of our ability, we haven't had any complaints yet!
